If you’re picturing Clapton, Beck, or Van Halen, think again. I’m not talking about guitar legends—I’m talking about the gods. And these particular deities recently answered a long-standing prayer of mine.

Being married to a musician means there have always been guitar cases, foot pedals, and amps scattered throughout the house. Often, they were just stacked in a corner, one on top of the other. There were cases leaning against the dresser. Occasionally, one was partially hidden behind a tall chair. Guitar cases took up so much space that under bed storage was impossible. In other words, wherever they were, they were a thorn in my side. Guitar cases are bulky and don’t belong in any reasonable home décor scheme. Guitars, maybe, but cases, definitely not!

Recently, Willie finished building his studio/office.  It is a wondrous rustic haven, where his guitars hang perfectly, where there are several seats for guitar playing, and the amps look like they belong. There’s even a comfy vintage leather chair in which a listener can cozy up with a blanket and enjoy a private concert! The best part for me, however, is the simplified storage. He not only figured out how to get his guitar cases out of our decorating schemes, but also how to store them so that he can just “grab and go.”

Apparently, moving two or three cases every time he wanted a specific case has been a huge irritant for him for—literally—decades. So, he was very careful to simplify his storage system in the new studio. It works amazingly well. In this case (yes, pun intended.) I’m convinced my guitar man’s clever solution was a long-overdue gift from the guitar gods.
