Have you seen that meme that says Christmas decor isn’t meant to be sleek and minimalist—it’s supposed to look like joy threw up in your house? I achieved that this year!
For the first time in well over a decade, we were all together for the holiday. The “westerners” flew in from Colorado and Nevada, and even Indonesia! I gleefully admit to going overboard with the decorating.
I decided upon a cabin theme – you know, lots of black and red buffalo check, lots of natural elements, greenery everywhere. When I couldn’t find 12-foot-long buffalo check drapes, I decided to make them myself—because why not add a sewing project to the holiday chaos? (That saga deserves its own story someday.)
And the real crowning moment? When our son walked in, eyes wide, and exclaimed, “Geeeezus, Mom! It looks like an L.L. Bean Christmas catalogue in here!” Nothing more needed to be said or done.
